The Diamond Club will hold its Meet The Team Dinner Saturday, Feb. 2nd at the Fawcett Center in Columbus.
A social hour will begin at 5:30 p.m. with dinner at 6:30 p.m. and the program beginning at 7:15 p.m.
Major League umpire Tim Timmons will be the featured speaker at this year’s Meet the Team dinner on February 2nd at the Fawcett Center at The Ohio State University.
Timmons, a Columbus native, attended Bishop Watterson High School. He played baseball at Muskingum College before transferring to The Ohio State University.
Timmons umpired in the New York–Penn League, South Atlantic League, Carolina League, Southern League, and International League before becoming a Major League umpire. Prior to his promotion to the major leagues, Timmons served as head of the minor league umpires’ union. He served as a major league reserve umpire before he was called up to the majors on a full-time basis in 2001.
Timmons was the home plate umpire in game one of the 2018 World Series between the Boston Red Sox and the Los Angeles Dodgers. He has also umpired in the Major League All-Star Game and two National League Divisional series.
